About 70% of Ukrainians spoke in favor of compromises in order to achieve peace in Donbass. This is evidenced by the results of a public opinion survey conducted by Democratic Initiatives Foundation named after Kucheriv and the social service of Razumkov Center, Interfax news agency reported. The survey was conducted throughout the country with the exception of territories not controlled by Kiev.

At the same time, 17% of respondents favor the force option. However, most of the population of Ukraine does not want to support the suggestions provided by Minsk agreements. Survey participants oppose the amnesty to all participants in the hostilities against Ukrainian security forces. They also call the elections in Donetsk republics on the terms of their authorities unacceptable.

Almost half of Donbass residents are ready to make any compromises for sake of peace, and only 10% support the use of force. This information was obtained during the survey, which was conducted in Donetsk and Lugansk regions, which remain under control of Ukrainian authorities.

In the southern and eastern Ukrainian regions of Donbass, most people endorse the granting of “special status” to DPR and LPR, and they have no objection to the public status for Russian language.
