Russia compiled a list of proposed activities in the framework of the Cross Year of Education in Russia and Spain. Now Madrid side is working on the suggestions. Scientific and educational conferences, student exchanges and joint projects of universities of the two countries will be held within the Year. Russian Ambassador to Spain Yuri Korchagin spoke about the preparation of the Year of Education; RIA Novosti quotes his words.

Russia and Spain have extensive experience in holding large-scale joint actions with a broad program. Countries have already organized bilateral Year of Culture, Year of Language and Literature, and Year of Tourism. According to Yuri Korchagin, these actions benefited both countries and gave an additional impetus to the development of relations. The ambassador announced that the Year of Education will probably start in the fall of 2019. The country in which the year will be open has not yet been determined. When the choice is made, the other country will take over the preparations for closing the events. Yuri Korchagin noted that the Year of Education will not be equal to the duration of calendar year.

Russian side’s proposals to saturate the program of the Year of Education with events were submitted to the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities during his meeting with Russian ambassador. Spain reported that these suggestions would help drawing up an agreed program as soon as possible. It is known that it will include conferences and seminars, student and academic exchanges, official visits of university delegations and events related to language learning.

Educational and scientific contacts between Russia and Spain are actively developing. The creation of an academic alliance, which will include eight universities (four from each country), was announced in January 2019. In addition to cooperation in various fields, representatives of the new association expect that the alliance will become a platform for global international dialogue.
