Slovak parents send their children to schools with Russian as an optional foreign language because these schools have higher education quality. Also parents think that people who know Russian have broader career prospects. Russian language teacher of the First Slovak primary school Valentina Lukyanova told this in her interview with Moscow Compatriot’s House website.

According to Valentina Lukyanova, the number of people willing to learn Russian is growing in Europe. The teacher makes this conclusion from the experience of communicating with colleagues who teach Russian in Austria, Croatia and other European countries. According Valentina Lukyanova, Residents of Slovakia actively use the opportunity to learn Russian, which is available in almost every school in the country. According to the teacher, those parents who are interested in Russian culture often bring children in Russian-language classes there.

The first Slovak-Russian primary school located in Bratislava is unique because of teaching in two languages, Russian and Slovak. Days of school week are equally divided into Russian and Slovak (the fifth day of the week is mixed), and depending on what day it is, all lessons are given in Russian or Slovak. This gives students the opportunity to learn both languages perfectly and get the skill of communication with representatives of different nationalities. In addition to main curriculum classes, schoolchildren play chess, dance, stage performances and learn rhetoric.

Slovak-Russian primary school receives attention of Russian officials who work in Slovakia. According to Valentina Lukyanova, students received their sheets with grades for semester from the hands of Russian Ambassador to Slovakia Alexei Fedotov in January.
