Two National Organizations of Russian Scouts (NORS) celebrated their anniversaries in Australia. Russian scout movement turns 110 this year, and its Australian branch turns 70 this year. Celebrations took place at the scout camp nearby Sydney. First Secretary of Russian Embassy in Australia Anton Chirva attended the event, Unification Russian Newspaper in Australia reported.

In the framework of the celebration, young campers have listened to reports about the history of NORS. After that, they built a symbolic bonfire in honor of live and devotion to Russia and Russian culture, and installed the flags of countries where Russian scout movement is developing. The celebration continued with Russian dances and scout songs. During camp sessions, children from Russian-speaking and mixed families will learn a lot about Russian history and crafts, gain medical knowledge and skills of behavior in the forest.

Russian scout movement started 110 years ago in Tsarskoye Selo. Public attitudes were going through crisis after Russian-Japanese war, and young people were depressed. NORS organization created by Oleg Pantukhov intended to help young Russians come out of that state. Scouts were banned after revolution, but thanks to emigrants, this movement kept existing in the countries of Europe, Asia and South America. Scout department was established in Australia in 1949.
