Minister for Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin to lead Russian delegation on World Economic Forum 2019 in Davos, Switzerland. Maintaining Russian Competitiveness session will be held on January 23 and about to become one of the major events of the Forum, which will be closed on January 25, Rossiyskaya Gazeta informs.

Russian experts in Davos will also pay attention to negotiations of Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak and the Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia Khalid Al-Falih. They will discuss the current worldwide resource situation. Participants also have high expectations about the meeting of high-powered businessmen of the USA, Europe, Asia and Middle East, organized by Russian Direct Investment Fund. Experts claim that forum in Davos remains an important venue for Russian businesses to negotiate with foreign partners and investors.

The current forum has been marked by the absence of most heads of leading countries. US President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Theresa May and French President Emmanuel Macron have declined to participate due to unstable situations in their countries.

Russian delegation was about to ignore the forum as well 1.5 months ago because of the discriminative decisions taken by the Forum organizers directed at several Russian businessmen.

As Russkiy Mir reported, Roscongress Foundation declared that the organization of Russian House in Davos was in doubt. As a result, the organizers changed their decisions, and Moscow sent the delegation to Davos. Russian House will start its work on Wednesday with a Russian Economy: Step Forward discussion and the foreign investments council.
