Best British schools use Soviet educational system

21.01.2019

The students of British prestigious schools use the Soviet textbooks written by physicist Lev Landau, mathematician Andrey Kolmogorov and other Russian scientists. Former British Secretary of State for Education Justine Greening confirmed this in her interview for BBC and called Soviet books “the most genious”, Novye Izvestia informs.

The use of Soviet books in the school programs of the United Kingdom started several years ago. According to Justine Greening, works of Landau and Kolmogorov have been thoroughly translated into English, and the goal was to convert the content in the most accurate way possible. She stated that the students who studied with Soviet books got a greater knowledge level than their peers from European elite schools.

British society is actively discussing Justine Greening’s words. Novye Izvestia provides the messages by Internet users about the facts of using Soviet books in the most prestigious British schools and universities since the middle of 1990’s. It was also noted that Finland was one of the first European countries that adopted the basis of Soviet educational system due to the visits of the leading educators of Russian universities in the beginning of 1990’s.

Evgeny Yamburg, Director of the Education Center #109, Member of Russian Academy of Science, called the books by Landau, Kolmogorov and Rosental the “priceless material.” According to him, Russian education should reprint these works and adopt the best features of Soviet education.

Co-Head of the Uchitel Teaching Union Vsevolod Lukhovitsky paid special attention to the diversity of Soviet textbooks, which lead to the complexity of returning the Soviet model of education for all studies. For example, Russian language books of USSR might be used today. According to Vsevolod Lukhovitsky, he uses the books written by Professor Panov in 1970’s for his classes.
