The Fort Ross Dialogue international forum will take place in Vologda this year, Cultinfo website informs. The preparations will be shared among the scientists of Vologda State University and the representatives of Vologda branch of Russian Geographic Society. The exact date of the forum remains unknown.

Russian-American conference became an annual tradition. Politicians, culture figures, experts in different fields, journalists and political scientists from both countries participate in it. The forum includes discussions and seminars on substantive issues on the bilateral agenda, discussions of the economic issues, and interactions in different fields.

Since 2012, forum took place in the Fort Ross historic park in California. Russian merchants established this settlement in the beginning of 19th century.

According to Alexander Petrov, the leading scientific member of the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences who is considered one of the most credible researchers of Russian America, the major merit in establishing Fort Ross belongs to the persons originating from Vologda area. Vologda merchants were seafarers and pathfinders, and strived to research and educate.

As Russkiy Mir reported, last year Fort Ross Dialogue took place in San Francisco. For the first time it was conducted Russia in 2017. Pskov and Izborsk became its venues being the twin towns with Fort Ross.
