Around 400 Russians imprisoned in Ukraine

About 400 Russian citisens stay in Ukraine prisons, shared with RIA Novosti the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Yevgeny Ivanov. He has mentioned that this number is approximate due to the fact that Ukrainian authorities not always inform the Russian side of such cases, “despite the Russian-Ukrainian consulate convention rules.”

The official regrets tha Ukrainian authorities aim to diminish the level of diplomatic relations with Russia. He has reminded about unprecedented deportation of 13 Russian ambassadors from General consulates in Kharkov and Odessa in March, 2018. “Nonetheless,” marked Mr. Ivanov, “Russian consulates continue to offer all possible help to Russian citizens to support their legal rights.”

Yevgeny Ivanov told about support of the RIA Novosti - Ukraine portal chief editor Kirill Vyshinsky arrested for political reasons. “Our Consulate workers continue to be in close contact with his layers and do all possible to defend his rights,” assured MFA's representative.
