The marathon is timed with the Year of Theater in Russia, which opened in December. Within the marathon, theaters are going to travel from region to region and pass the relay baton to local troupes. Eight Russian cities are also going to host forums on the future of the Russian theater, Kultura.rf website reports.

The marathon starts in Vladivostok and ends a year later in Kaliningrad. The first performance will take on the scene of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theater on December 18. The opening ceremony as well as Sleeping Beauty play in the classical choreography of Marius Petipa are to take place there. After that, the Primorsky Drama Theater will go on tour to Khabarovsk. The spectators from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, in their turn, already wait for the Khabarovsk Musical Theater.

Among the important events of the marathon are eight forums of the Theatre Union of the Russian Federation, which are going to take place in different parts of the country. Moscow and local directors, critics, actors, theater leaders are going to participate in it. They will discuss the future of Russian theater. Training seminars and laboratories are also to be held within the framework of the forums. The strategy of developing theatrical business until 2030 will be adopted at the final event in Moscow.
