Exhibition of Russian fabrics took place in Nice

18.12.2018

The exhibition of Russian textiles Preobrazhenie (Transfiguration) was held in the south of France, the website of the Moscow House of Compatriots reported. It took place in the Russian House in Nice with the participation of the Russian Manufactory company.

The exposition consisted of two parts. The first one represented the age-old traditions of Russian textiles. The second part showed the modern samples. They were created based on the fabric manufacturing experience in our country.

The exhibition also featured historical exhibits and reconstructions.

According to Elena Vokach-Boldyreva, who represents the Russian House in Nice, the organization works hard to preserve the Russian heritage on the Cote d'Azur. For example, it takes care of a real Russian hut, located in the former estate of Baron Pavel von Derviz. Baron had brought it to France and it has survived till present day, but its condition is far from ideal. Now the hut is located on the territory of the University of Valrose.

Russian House wants to restore the building and needs the help of masters, restorers and patrons of art.

The organization held a drawing exhibition to collect the funds. Children painted the hut and their works were later exhibited at the university center. Another exposition displayed children's scarves, which were sold at the fair. The collected money became the first sum which would be used to restore the hut.
