The organizers of the World Economic Forum in Davos, which is scheduled to take place from January 22 to 25, 2019, revised their position on Russia and its representatives after Moscow announced that it considered to cancel Russia’s participation in the event.  All restrictions have been lifted, and the official delegation of the Russian government intends to go to Davos, RIA Novosti reports, citing a source in the Cabinet of Ministers.

Earlier the Financial Times reported that Russian entrepreneurs Oleg Deripaska, Viktor Vekselberg and the chief executive of VTB bank Andrey Kostin were told that their participation in the Davos forum was not welcomed because of their inclusion in the US sanctions list.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that under such conditions Russia intended to cancel the trip to Switzerland. The Roscongress Foundation, in its turn, announced the intention to cancel The Russian House Project, the events of which traditionally became the places to discuss the most pressing problems of the world economy.

Note, that the foundation saw in the restrictive measures against the Russians the destruction of the pillars of global business cooperation. The Davos forum has been previously considered the largest platform for a global dialogue between all interested parties, regardless of their political views.

In addition, Roscongress, citing conversations with world-class businessmen and heads of international corporations, said in a message that they did not approve of the restrictions imposed by Davos.

The Russian delegation at the Davos Forum has always been one of the most numerous and representative.
