Ukrainian intelligence agencies started to look into the activities of the Coordinating Council of the Organization of Russian compatriots, STRANA.ua reports.

The employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted searches in Poltava. They came to the apartment of Sergey Provatorov, the head of the compatriots’ association Russian Union, right during the celebration of his birthday. The SBU seized the Pushkin’s medal, which was given to Porvatorov a month ago by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin during the annual Congress of Compatriots.

The SBU’s second target was historian Yuri Pogoda, one of the most prominent specialists in studies of the Battle of Poltava and Hetman Ivan Mazepa. A search was also conducted at the place of poet and historian Viktor Shestakov, who headed the Russian community of Poltava region.

All three are suspected of "manipulating public consciousness." The intelligence agencies took away all electronic devices trying to find the evidence proving their involvement in activities against Ukraine.

According to some reports, the active members of the Russian-speaking diaspora of Poltava could have attracted attention by their allegedly anti-Ukrainian activity on social networks. However, there is no particular activity, especially political one, on the accounts of the abovementioned users.
