Combining traditions and innovations makes Melbourne Pushkin Lyceum to be one of the best Russian schools in Australia. Newest Russian language textbooks are delivered by Russian publishing houses, Yedinenie Newspaper reports.

According to the Lyceum administration kids learn many things about Australian and Russian cultures, making confrontation  and finding similar points. During the lessons students read and analyze, write papers, discuss and express their thoughts.   Lyceum Director Marina Makarova has brought from international bilingual education conference in Athens many novelties. In particular, learning language through play is becoming more and more popular.

Melbourne Pushkin Lyceum conducts many extracurricular activities, such as traditional Russian folk and religios celebrations, contests, and other activities. For example in anticipation of WW2 Victory Day many students bring to the Lyceum portraits of their grand and grand-grandfathers who were fighting and were home frontworkers. They are drawing genealogical tree. Such activities make classes more close-knit and   impact positively on thestudents’ learning achievement.
