Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G20 Forum in Argentina has made a proposal to use the platform to discuss approaches to reform the World Trade Organization (WTO). In a year, the heads of the G20 countries will meet in Japan and could make specific proposals, TASS quotes representative of the Russian President at G20 Svetlana Lukash.

The second day of the forum, as expected, turned out to be intense for Vladimir Putin as the Russian leader had already met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

The WTO in the opinion of the Russian leader, needs to be reformed, since it does not reflect modern realities and has become an instrument of trade disputes and unilateral punishments by some countries against the others. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin believes that trade rules should be the same for everyone and should be respected by all members of the organization.

Russian President may discuss this issue with the leaders of other countries in personal. Vladimir Putin had breakfast with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the meeting was held without a press. The conversation with Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud was held in a friendly atmosphere. Some media called their first meeting which showed a good attitude of the leaders to each other, the main event of the first G20 summit.
