Moscow calls on the international community to take a close look at the way the martial law introduced in some parts of Ukraine affects the rights and freedoms of its citizens. The spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova believes that this issue should be treated by UN, OSCE, the Council of Europe and other international organizations, TASS reports.

The Russian MFA called the situation in Ukraine another alarming sign. It is a clear evidence that everything is going according to a confrontational scenario, it added.

Russia is deeply worried by the developing use of power and the deplorable state of human rights.

Western advisors should remember that Kiev’s plan is very dangerous. Poroshenko, who is trying to keep power in his hands, draws the country into a reckless gamble. Its consequences can be catastrophic not only for Ukraine but for the security of Europe in general.

Besides that, the martial law is selective and mainly touches the regions with the predominating Russian population. These people, studies show, are not exactly fond of the current policy of Kiev.

There is also a real danger of the civil conflict spreading to the whole territory of Ukraine as a result of the martial law. The security services received exceptional powers including the use of force without trial.
The martial law introduced under the pretext of countering the mythical " Russian aggression "  approves restrictions of the constitutional freedoms of Ukrainian citizens. They include bans on freedom of speech, assembly and movement.
