Future Russian Center presentation took place last Tuesday in University of Buenos Aires. The Center is a joint project of Argentinian institution and Russkiy Mir Foundation.
Russian Ambassador in Argentina Dmitry Feoktistov marked that “Russian Center opening is a great honor for us. We know that University of Buenos Aires is not only one of the best in Latin America, but also among the top-100 best universities in the world.”
The ambassador has underlined that Argentina has the biggest Russian community (about 300 thousand) in Latin America. More and more people, including native Argentinians, are learning Russian today.
As per American programs director Nikolay Milkhailov, the new Center aims to “promote Russian language and culture, develop cooperation in humanitarian field.”
The Rector of the University of Buenos Aires Alberto Barbieri has noted that the Center will help to develop research contacts and joint projects. “This Center is like a bridge for new generations. We can strengthen relations by acknowledging cultures of our countries,” he added.
It is planned to allocate Russian books and RSL textbooks library at the Russian Center in UBA.
There are four Russian language Centers currently opened in Latin America: in Cuba, Nicaragua, Costa-Rica, and Ecuador.
