Alexandrov Ensemble to kick off tour in US

The Red Army Choir will perform in the United States of America, Izvestia newspaper reports. The legendary ensemble plans to start the tour in the spring of 2020. According to the organizers, the preparations have already begun despite there is a long period before the start.

The concerts of Russian artists should be held in three US cities: Los Angeles, New York and Washington. The tour will be dedicated to the anniversary of the Victory Day (May 9). In 2020, it will be 75 years since the Russian victory at the Eastern Front of World War II. The tour is scheduled for April. On very April 25, 1945 the USSR and the USA troops met near the Elbe River to fight against Nazi Germany.

According to the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, the department is ready to help in conducting the tour. A senior diplomat assured that such cultural projects are particularly important today when relations between Moscow and Washington have aggravated.

Russian Embassy in the USA offered its support.

If the tour takes place, it will be the first one in fifteen years. Last time the Alexandrov Ensemble performed in the US in 2005.
