Putin and Erdogan completed Turkish Stream offshore section

The construction of the sea section of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline has been finished, TASS reports. Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan took part in the completion ceremony in a video conference mode.

According to the Russian leader, his Turkish counterpart required political will and courage to implement the gas pipeline project. Vladimir Putin voiced gratitude to him and explained that these qualities allowed him to realize the project. He assured that they are the foundation of trust between Moscow and Ankara.

The Russian President gratified all Turkish specialists. He also hopes that the gas pipeline and the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant will become symbols of the partnership development between the two countries.

Vladimir Putin also reminded that the gas pipeline is not aimed against anyone. It confirms the ability of a state to protect its own interests.

As Russkiy Mir reported, the project involves the construction of a gas pipeline along the bottom of the Black Sea to the European part of Turkey and further to the border with Greece. The pipeline with a length over 900 km runs along the bottom of the Black Sea to the coast of Turkey. A land section will stretch for 180 km.

The first line is intended to gas supply for the Turkish market, the second aims at the countries of South and South-Eastern Europe The capacity of each line is almost 16 bln cubic meters of gas per year.
