Russia wins three medals at World Robot Olympiad in Thailand

The Russian national team has brought three awards from the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), TASS reports. The tournament was held in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. Children, teenagers and young people from 7 to 25 years, divided into three age categories, attended it.

According to Alexei Khabibullin, a representative of Innopolis University, two gold medals and one bronze medal were received in the creative nomination. The younger group won the third position. The middle and senior groups became the best.

A team from the capital of Tatarstan received gold with the Lean Logistics project. It is a network of smart warehouses. The creators of robots from Saint Petersburg showed a system that deals with tracking, collecting and selling fruits and berries with a short shelf life.

Another team from Kazan won the bronze having developed a machine for growing vegetables.

In the main competition, representatives of Astrakhan were awarded in special Future innovations nomination for the simplicity and elegance of the robot design.

Khabibullin stresses that this year the competition was very tough as very strong rivals gathered to the contest.

International competitions were held in four categories – main category, football robots, student category and creative category This year, nearly 500 teams from more than 60 different countries competed for the victory. Nineteen teams represented Russia.
