The educational and university forums of Russia and the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations will be much more useful if they are held on a regular basis, President of Russia Vladimir Putin says at the Russia-ASEAN summit in Singapore, TASS reports.

He recalls that such forums took place in 2016 and 2017 in our country and their results prove their necessity.

According to the Russian leader, relations between Russia and ASEAN-members on humanitarian cooperation are developing in a planned and progressive manner. The plan until 2025 in the scientific, technological and innovation sphere facilitated the cooperation.

In addition, the Russia-ASEAN youth councils will be repeated next year on the Philippines.

Vladimir Putin also promised that Russia will join the ASEAN plan to make a network of "smart" cities. He stresses that Moscow is a leader in introducing digital technologies into the urban environment in Russia. The head of state adds that Russian capital already established cooperation with Singapore. He voices the hope that the interaction will extend and cover more and more cities.

Earlier Russkiy Mir reported that Vladimir Putin flew to Singapore on the eve for a three-day visit. He took part in starting the construction of the Russian Cultural Center.
