The 5th Russian-Italian Film Festival (RIFF) has started on November 14, TASS reports. The opening ceremony will be held in Moscow and the program will extend to Saint Petersburg and Novosibirsk. The festival will last for a year by the autumn of 2019.

This year RIFF's format will change. Every month the public will enjoy a premiere and a creative meeting with filmmakers. Each screening will be accompanied by lectures, master classes devoted to cinema, language and literature of Italy.

According to the organizer of the cinema forum Alexander Bukreev, the program includs all the best Italian films. There are leaders of film distribution, winners of film festivals in Europe.

RIFF-2018 will begin with I am Tempesta by Daniele Luchetti. The picture I Can Quit Whenever I Want - 3 is scheduled next month. It finishes the trilogy of the same name and represents the very Italian comedy that has always been loved in Russia. It is not surprising that Russians like Italian cinema, as Russians and Italians largely coincide in their mentality. Pictures will be shown in Italian with Russian subtitles.

Both the public and professionals will like the films. The jury consists of directors, actors, producers, critics and other film experts.

The main task of the film forum is the expansion of cultural ties between the two countries. It also aims to popularize contemporary cinema in Italy.
