Yuri Gagarin statue unveiled in Luxembourg

11.11.2018

Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center

A statue of the first man in space celebrates 25th anniversary of the agreement on cooperation in cultural, educational and scientific fields between Moscow and Luxembourg. The statue was inaugurated in the presence of the Russian Ambassador Victor Sorokin and cosmonaut Alexander Missurkin who has spent almost one year at the International Space Station.

The idea of the monument belongs to Pilot-Cosmonaut of the USSR Alexei Leonov.
International public foundation Cultures Dialogue – Unified World has realised the project. This organisation has been working many years of popularisation of the first cosmonaut's feat.

The sculpture is located in the Mondorf Domaine Thermal park, near the Luxembourg Aviation Museum. Every year about 250 thousand people, including guests from Belgium, France and Germany visit this place. Organisers hope that Gagarin's feat is a great example for the youth.

Cultures Dialogue – Unified World Foundation has installed several dozens of Gagarin busts in 40 cities around the world.
