The 101st October Revolution anniversary was celebrated in Cuba, TASS reports. On November 7, a solemn ceremony was held in honor of this date traditionally at the monument to Soviet soldiers-internationalists near the Cuban capital.

The Cuban servicemen, diplomats of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan gathered there. They laid flowers and wreaths at the Eternal Flame and the graves of Soviet soldiers who died in Cuba.

According to the representative of the Cuba Defense Ministry Ernest Feyheau, the Soviet Union made the largest contribution to Cuba support. He cited the leader of the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro, who believed that the revolutionary events in Cuba became possible only after the Russian revolution in 1917.

The general said that paying tribute to the memory of those who died in Cuba, people express the gratitude and appreciation to them.

According to Russkiy Mir, last year when they celebrated the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution a series of events took place in Havana including two scientific conferences and exhibitions. The exposition is located in the Pushkin Hall of the library which Russkiy Mir Foundation opened in 2010.
