Italy hosts Russian Rome festival

The Second Russian Rome cultural festival has kicked off in the capital of Italy, TASS reports. The festival will include films screenings and performances as well as book presentations.

The events are scheduled at different sites. Italy will host the screening of Ivan Turgenev. Russian European film, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Russian writer. The film is included in the international Turgenev program of the State Museum of Pushkin supported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

The film was shown not only in Russia but also in other European countries. The project introduces the Turgenev's life and work to foreign viewers and compatriots living abroad. The film is based on the memoirs of the writer's contemporaries - friends, like-minded colleagues and opponents. The film covers the memories of Tolstoy, Fet, Nekrasov etc.

On November 8, the audience will be invited to the literary and musical performance called Fifth Season ... Love. Famous Russian actresses Nina Shatskaya and Olga Kabo will act in it.

There scheduled the presentation of the book by an Italian, Margherita Belgiojoso. It tells about the fate of the outstanding Russian women.

At the final ceremony, cultural activists will be awarded for a great contribution to the promotion of Russian culture abroad.

According to Russkiy Mir, the festival revives the tradition of the literary salons of Princess Zinaida Volkonskaya. Last year, it was 118th anniversary since the day when famous Russian writers gathered in the Palazzo Poli for the first time. There were Vyazemsky, Gogol, and later people of culture from other countries. Those years, Rome turned into a place of attraction for all famous Russian writers, artists, and musicians.
