Compatriots from 68 countries apply for Leaders of Russia contest

More than 227 thousand applications were sent to the organizing committee of the 2nd Leaders of Russia program for people with some managerial experience. This year, Russian compatriots living abroad can participate and residents from 68 countries used the opportunity. The distant round will begin on November 4 for more than 91 thousand participants, TASS reports. More than 100 people won the first competition; over half of them were appointed to high offices in the Russian regions and in government bodies.

The first stage includes three blocks to test verbal and numerical abilities, abstract thinking, general erudition (knowledge of geography, history, economics, law and Russian language) and business skills. The round will be held in November and December.

The Leaders of Russia contest is the core project of the platform named Russia is a country of opportunities. President Vladimir Putin launched it in 2017. The project is an attempt to create a "vertical lift" for talented and active Russian citizens. 103 people of 200 thousand participants won the first competition. Two of the winners became governors of the Russian regions; three were appointed deputy federal ministers.

According to Russkiy Mir, this year competition was changed a little. Besides the admission of compatriots living abroad, the maximum age of participants was raised to 55 years. The list of mentors which includes high-ranking officials, heads of state corporations and large private companies, was extended.
