The Russian Youth of America organized an event celebrating National Unity Day

Russian compatriots residing in the United States of America decided to celebrate the National Unity Day, TASS reports. Immediately in advance of the Russian holiday, 8 km joint race dedicated to it was held in New York. It was organized by the Russian Youth of America society. 

According to Alina Porter, who was coordinating the event, the Central Park was selected as the race venue. Around fifty participants toed the starting line. Among the runners you could see students of Columbia University, Baruch College, and City University of New York. They decided not to form different teams, wore T-shirts of identical design and together run around the park. 

This is not the last festive event. On the eve of the National Unity Day, on November 3, the celebrations in New York will continue. Public folk festival is scheduled in the very center of the city, on Times Square. More than a hundred people in the costumes of Russia’s nations will come together. They will sing folk songs and dance in a big round.
