Putin orders to impose economic sanctions against Ukraine

Russia will undertake special economic measures in response to the Kiev's sanctions, TASS reports. Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a relevant order aimed at protecting national interests.

The document states that the Ukraine actions violate international law. They relate to restrictions against Russians and Russian legal entities.

The Cabinet of Ministers is instructed to "define special economic measures and lists of individuals and legal entities falling under these measures".

State authorities at different levels, local authorities, Russian organizations and individuals should take into account that since the decree come into force special economic measures will be applied to some individuals and legal entities.

The decree starts operating from the moment of signing. It can be canceled at the request of the Russian Government if Kiev abolishes its restrictive measures.
