The arms agreement is not a subject for a megaphone diplomacy, it requires a professional approach, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) commented on the Donald Trump's statement announcing the US intention to withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) as Moscow allegedly violates it.

Sergey Lavrov notes that Russia is responsible for global stability. He presumes that the United States would also observe its part of responsibility.

Meanwhile, the Russian official has no doubt that the same approach should be applied to the Treaty on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (the new START Treaty).

The diplomat recalled that Russia has repeated at the highest level that it is ready to ink the document again in 2021 when it expires.

The minister assures that Moscow is ready to discuss how to reach it with Washington. However, the conversation should take place in accordance with the procedures of these agreements, Sergey Lavrov stresses.
