The Russian-Japanese Forum has started on October 18 in Tokyo, RIA Novosti reports. It is dedicated to cooperation between the two countries in the educational and scientific areas as well as in the field of learning Russian. The participants are the deans, teachers and scientists of universities in Russia and Japan. The conference will work for two days.

According to Mikhail Galuzin, who heads the diplomatic mission of Russia, the development of relations in the humanitarian sphere is very promising. The diplomat is convinced that there is a cooperation based on the long-standing scientific traditions of the Russian and Japanese educational systems.

The Ambassador recalled that the Forum of Russian and Japanese universities gave good results. First university leaders met almost a decade ago. Now the Russian-Japanese Association of Universities has been created on the basis of the forum.

The teamwork aims at joint training of the next generation of researchers. These scientists will learn how to make research and work together for the benefit of the Russian and Japanese peoples.

Universities exchange experience in joint laboratories work, academic and student exchanges in robotics and medical technologies, and climate change study. For example, Kazan University and Kanazawa University recently launched a Russian-Japanese Leaders of the Future Program at various levels - from cultural and language exchange to high-tech research in medicine.
