First Russian language graduates of Damascus University receive diplomas

First Russian language graduates of Damascus University have received diplomas, TASS reports. The graduate ceremony took place yesterday in the Syrian capital. 

According to the Head of the Russian language department Kassam Mahmood, there are 17 Bachelors this year. Most part of them will continue studies in Russian universities, which will give them a chance to improve Russian language skills. 

As Russkiy Mir reported before, The University of Damascus has opened  in 2014, and recently a new Russian language campus was opened. The Russian language department is the largest one.

One of the teachers Elena al-Vadi has recalled that there were hard times during the opening because there were not enough teachers and textbooks. She has marked that staff problem continues to be actual, so the graduates are more than welcome to come and teach at Alma Mater.

The first graduate Ziad Hamad, who already knows English, Spanish and French said that he loves Russian because it's one of the most beautiful languages. He is 41 and he used to work as foreign language teacher, but now he's decided to sell the house in order to continue studies in Russia.
