Russian folk songs and works by Russian composers have been performed in the Sydney Conservatory of Music, Time of News reports on its Facebook. Local artists sang the songs in Russian although almost none of them could speak this language.

There was a concert at the pinnacle of the Russian for Singers Project. Natalya Melnik became its initiator, organizer and inspirer. A professional opera singer explained that she wanted to make available the Russian vocal repertoire for singers who do not speak Russian.

According to her, the project allowed beginning and professional singers take part in special trainings. They learnt the correct pronunciation and historical context of these works.

Natalia set a goal to expand the singers' abilities in the Russian repertoire. Using special phonetic techniques she managed to train the singers unfamiliar with the Russian language to perform Russian songs.
