My Language is My Future: Sydney holds Russian Community Languages Conference

My Language is My Future, Russian Community Languages Conference has gathered teachers of Russian in Sydney, Time of News reports on its Facebook. The New South Wales Department of Education conducts the event. According to the organizers, these were teachers who came up with the initiative - they received many requests for such n event.

One of the teachers Maria Lobytsyna said that the conference turned out to be very ambitious in its scale.

Experienced teachers were invited there to exchange views, learn about new teaching methods/ There were also young teachers and students learning the language in higher educational institutions. Students who organized the Slavic Society at Macquarie University also participated.

Youth plenary discussion was held at the conference. Former students of Russian schools shared their experience with teachers, told what was the most relevant in studying Russian language.

Speakers noted that the forum demonstrated the broad context of the Russian language. In turn, it gives a certain cultural, social and political weight to the Russian community. Teachers are sure that the Russian language is not just words. It turned into a wide layer of Australian culture, Australian life.

The teachers expressed the hope that the forum will become a tradition and other events will be also held.

Participants identified the main difficulties faced by Russian schools. The diverse and very rich program allowed everyone to learn something new, establish new contacts, and organize joint projects.
