Russian and Chinese universities to develop technologies for the Arctic exploration

Russian and Chinese universities, being members of the Technical Universities Association, will jointly carry out scientific work in transport, construction and environmental sectors in Arctic.

The decision is a result of the the first Association's forum held in the North-Eastern Federal University in Yakutsk, TASS reports.

According to the representative of the university Anatoly Nikolayev, Arctic requires new technologies to prevent its climate, deservedly called extreme, from impeding the buildings construction. He also recalled that the industrial development of the region poses a serious danger to the fragile ecological system. The transportation for people and goods remain one of the most difficult issues during the time of the region exploring.

The Association established a platform on these issues for scientific research and education exchanges.

The forum adopted a declaration of universities - members of the association. They agreed to meet two years later. The next time Chinese town of Harbin will host the forum.
