Russian-speaking people who like classical music will soon enjoy online broadcasts of Vienna Opera performances with subtitles in Russian. The General Director of the Austrian capital theater, Dominique Meyer promised that they will appear within two of weeks, TASS reports.

He assured that when the system starts working, the subtitle language will be possible to select. So, it will be more convenient for visitors from Russia to enjoy the opera.

As Russkiy Mir reported, last year the Vienna Opera got a new system of electronic libretto. It used to work only in two languages, last season their number increased to six including Russian. For the convenience of viewers libretto is provided on personal tablets showing the text in a chosen language.

The Austrian ambassador in Moscow, Johannes Aigner, noted that students of the Russian school of academic vocals often perform at the Vienna Opera. In addition, the Russian ballet stars are also actively involved in theatrical performances.

Meyer also said that the next season is particularly important for the theater as in the spring it will celebrate the 150th anniversary.

The preparation for this date is already launched. A solemn evening and a free concert in the open air will take place in its honor. The concert will be held on the Herbert von Karajan square.
