The Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov expressed hope that common sense would prevail in international relations, he said during his visit to the Turkish capital. This is reported by RIA Novosti. In Ankara he met his counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.

According to Sergei Lavrov, only this will allow the countries to move to a dialogue free from political motives. He noted that now it seems that partners in the West have completely lost the culture of diplomacy.

The head of Russian diplomacy is convinced that sooner or later " objective reality will help common sense prevail and we will return to the fundamental principles laid down in the UN Charter and stipulating collective work on solving global problems while respecting the sovereign equality of states and non-interference in their interior affairs."

Both Moscow and Ankara are interested in solving all existing problems in this field.

The minister added that the parties agreed to strengthen strategic partnership in the international arena.
Sergei Lavrov noted that the Russian authorities highly appreciate Turkey's refusal to join the sanctions.
The Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov did not rule out that the West is trying to influence the success of the Astana meeting format on Syria by imposing sanctions against Russia, Turkey and Iran.
