Russian athletes return home after triumph at the European Championships

Russian gymnasts have already returned home after the European Championships in summer sports. They brought home six awards, Vesti TV channel reported.

Three of them have the highest value. Three times Russian athletes got the top of podium: in the team all-around, vault and parallel bars. Also they won one silver and two bronze awards. The tournament was held for the first time, it took place in British Glasgow.

During the whole tournament the national team did not allow anyone to execel their number of awards. Representatives of our country have 66 medals in overall standing, 31 of them are gold. In addition, they won nine silver and 16 bronze medals.

AFter the victory in the medal standings which unlike the Olympics is official the Russians were awarded with the European Championship trophy. It is a goblet more than 60 centimeters tall, mounted on a base made of gold. Russia won the first place even though the awards of track-and-field athletes were not taken into the team account as they performed in neutral status.
