Russian Orthodox Church announced funds raising to help compatriots in Tajikistan

Russian Orthodox Church has launched the program aiming to help Russian compatriots residing  in Tajikistan, IA Interfax reports. 

Moscow Patriarchate's Charity department has initiated the program. They have explained that the program aims to help people in difficult situation. The range of those in need include single moms, single old people and disabled.   

It is planned to open a canteen at the Dushanbe Diocese for persons in need. During last six years Orthodox priests in  capital of Tajikistan conduct free lunches. Due to the shortage of funds, these  single-dish lunches are held only on holidays and weekends.

Synod department has started raising funds to acquire kitchen equipment for a canteen. Thanks to that 200 people would be able to eat at least once a day during a week. Food to be prepared in the St.Nicholas Cathedral church in Dushanbe. 

Using donations Dushanbe Diocese will buy food packages for the low-income inhabitants of remote areas. Each food set cost around $25. 

In the future Т Dushanbe Diocese plans to open a Humanitarian Help Center which would include a residential care home for disadvantaged children.
