Members of the Lower House of the parliament are to consider the draft law stipulating rules for obtaining Russian citizenship under the simplified procedure, TASS reports. The document was prepared by the Government of the Russian Federation. Its draftsmen propose to empower the head of the state to compile a list of foreigners qualified to obtain Russian citizenship under the simplified procedure.

Such changes will provide opportunity to obtain citizenship for compatriots who live in countries where the political, social and economic situation turns to be extremely challenging, where armed conflicts or coups break out.
Furthermore, the draft law also suggests facilitating conferment of citizenship for compatriots taking part in the resettlement program. The new rules will affect those who have already received a temporary or permanent residence permits. They will be able to apply for citizenship under the simplified procedure, "among other things, at the place of stay in the region chosen for residence."

In addition it will be required to get a medical statement certifying absence of drug addiction, AIDS and contagious diseases, which are dangerous for others. Fingerprint scanning procedure will also be mandatory.
