Sergey Lavrov: Partnership BRICS-Africa becomes stronger

BRICS involves outer circle of confederates, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov is sure. This is stated in his article published by the South African magazine Ubuntu, reports Russian MFA website.  

Let us remember, BRICS summit starts today, July, 26 in Johannesburg.

Except 5 countries' Presidents, African countries leaders as well as Argentina and Turkey's heads are invited. 

“We welcome the decision of the BRICS Chair to invite to Johannesburg other friends of the five countries from around the world representing authoritative integration associations.”, says the Russian diplomacy chief's article. Lavrov mentioned that this way the «BRICS plus» initiative is practically implemented. Lavrov is sure, the Five is a unique platform for conjugation of various integration processes.

“Our Group is a unique example of building partnerships between States that differ greatly in terms of culture and civilization. And this is exactly why it is so strong and united. The cooperation between the five countries is based on mutual respect and mutual benefit, as well as strict consideration of each other's interests. BRICS countries represent a major stabilizing factor promoting sound multilateral initiatives in global affairs,” states the article.

Sergey Lavrov underlined growing interest of BRICS countries in Africa-related issues, which become “increasingly important” for the Russian foreign policy as well. Moscow has significantly contributed to decolonization processes and the rise of new independent States on the African continent.

There's a special outreach session scheduled with the participation of the of the African regional organizations' heads at the Johannesburg. BRICS-Africa Partnership is steadily developing, Sergey Lavrov underlined.
