Robert Neal Driscoll, an attorney of the Russian national Maria Butina, detained at the day of the summit  between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Helsinki is sure that his detainee is not guilty. According to the attorney, the case of Butina does not have any grounds and is very shaky. Moreover, her “spy” status does not correspond to her behaviour in the court and in the American prison, TASS informs.

Neal Driscoll claims that she is not guilty of what she is accused of. He reminded that though she have been closed watched for a long lime, she did nothing a spy would do. At this, the lawyer finds it difficult to access chances for the victory in the court, as this is just the beginning of the process and the prosecutors did not present evidence on the case. In opinion of the American authorities, the evidence base not seen by the lawyer yet consists of the materials against the Russian national.

As the Russkiy Mir foundation reported earlier, the Russian national was detained in Washington and charged with espionage on errand of the Russian official entered in the sanction-list of the USA. At present, the Russian diplomats require explanations regarding detention of the Russian national.
