"At the Top of My Voice" - the 125th anniversary of V. Mayakovsky celebrated today

The Russian capital has seriously taken preparations for the 125th birth anniversary of a the voice of USSR Vladimir Mayakovsky. The state museum named after the futurist poet despite it's still being reconstructed is going to welcome guests on July 19. Actors of Poetry Theatre are going to recite his futurist lyrics in one of the Moscow's central parks. The admirers of the great poet will enjoy watching films, taking part in amateur concert parties, master-classes and reading his verses. The 24 hours are totally dedicated to Mayakovsky, there will be a lectures’ day and an avant-garde night, RIA Novosti informs.

The gala ceremony of laying flowers to the grave of Mayakovsky took place at the Novodevichy cemetery. The procession is to be headed by Mayakovsky State Museum’s director Alexey Lobov. After that, all the people are invited to take an tour around the new exhibition at the memorial flat of the poet located in Krasnaya Presnya area. The exhibition project The Daughter is organized by the poet’s daughter Patricia Thompson.

Mayakovsky’s Day is highlited with a sequence of lectures devoted to the biography and creative work of the poet, his famous ladder and his relations with his muse Lilia Brik. A theatrical poetic staging at the yard of the museum house of the futurist to be a culmination of the celebrations. The staging is based on correspondence between the poet and Lilia Brik and the poem called About This. Actors of theatre and cinema Anastasia Makeeva and Sergei Danilevich prepared the staging.
