Anniversary of city liberation from Fascist invaders marked in Bialystok

The reburial ceremony of warriors’ remains found near the Narew river will take place as a part of ceremonies dedicated to the 74th anniversary of Bialystok liberation from the Fascist invaders.

Around 30 findings were made near villages of Vojska and Rybola starting the end of 2017. Heroes of the Great Patriotic War defending the Polish lands in June 1941 found their rest near Hajnowka, according to Facebook page of Russian cultural educational society of Poland.

Bialystok was freed from the German occupation in July 27, 1944. Over the time of its occupation more than 75 % of buildings were damaged, hundreds of Soviet soldiers and officers died. The troops of the Belarus front made their contribution into the victory over Fascism on the Polish lands.

Traditionally, the remains of the warriors who died at the battlefields near Bialystok will be reburied as a part of anniversary ceremonies. In Hajnowka the reburial ceremony is scheduled for July 29 to begin at 8:30 am local time at the Soviet cemetery.

Note that earlier it became known that in the forest between villages of Vojska and Rybola, the searchers of Narew-2018 international expedition found remains of 6 Red Army soldiers who died defending the bridge over the Narew river.
