Muslim Cinema Festival in Kazan gathers record number of applications

A record number of applications was sent for Kazan International Muslim Film Festival, IA Theatre-Inform reports. The Festival is to take place in the capital of Tatarstan at the beginning of autumn for the 14th time already. At present organizers received almost a thousand of applications from film directors from 56 countries of the world. 65 movies were eventually selected. The local movies are widely presented at the festival as well – 30 game, documentary and animated movies of full and short versions came from Tatarstan. 

Traditionally the contest presents 4 categories. Apart from the game, animated and documentary movies in short and full lengths, the author of the best feature film in nomination Young Russia will be announced. The films by young film directors are to be presented in this nomination.

Professional jury will be headed by a well-known USSR Peoples’ artist from Turkmenia Maya-Gozel Aimedova. The winner  of the Cinema Festival of the last year – a film director from Turkey Mustafa Kara was invited as a jury member.

A section of cinema for children will be opened at Kazan International Muslim Film. It is called called Cinema World of Childhood. The additional agenda includes several retrospectives as well as Egyptian, Japanese, Mongolian and Indian feature films.
