St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox cemetery in Seattle will be renovated. The restoration will become a part of Russian-American cooperation initiative. The Russian-American Initiative on Cooperation curators together with representatives of St. Nicholas Cathedral are going to restore graves of the Russian veterans of the First World War, representatives of the White immigration and The Russian Orthodox religious leaders, the website of the Coordinating Council of the Russian Compatriots living in the US informs.
The fraternal cemetery was opened in Seattle in 1928 as a sign of commemoration of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas 2 and his relatives. Association of Russian war veterans stayed a founder of the cemetery, then it was passed on to the St. Nicholas Orthodox cathedral.

Unfavorable Weather and time did their work and the cemetery has dilapidated considerably over the time of its existence. Acts of vandalism contributed to this a lot. After negotiations with organizations dealing with keeping the historical heritage and after consulting with the Orthodox priests a decision on renovation was made.
Now curators of the renovation project are preparing a design of the project and find sources of financing. It is known that the renovation works at the Seattle cemetery will be accomplished in a year, in summer 2019.
