A project law, which is to simplify getting the Russian citizenship has been approved at the session of the Parliamentary committee for legislative drafting activities, IA Interfax informs. According to the draft, some categories of foreign nationals will be able to get a Russian passport following a simplified procedure. The project law has been prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The document reads that it will be possible to become a Russian citizen without passing an exam on the Russian language, without an obligation to live in Russia for 5 years and without confirmation of financing sources. Those, who are subject to this law will be defined by the head of state personally.

The changes will concern participants of the program on assisting in relocation of the compatriots. They will be able to apply for the Russian citizenship in any region of Russia provided they have a temporary registration. For this, they will need to have a permission to stay in Russia or a residence permit.

Note that during the direct line with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he mentioned that the process of getting the Russian citizenship must be simplified. In his words, the country should turn to liberalization of the situation around getting the Russian citizenship.

As the Russkiy Mir Foundation reported earlier, at the beginning of July, the government considered a project law, which is to decrease obstacles for getting the Russian citizenship by compatriots, The draft is meant for participants of the program on relocation of compatriots. It stipulates simplification of procedure of getting the citizenship of the Russian Federation by natives of the Russian culture speaking the Russian language as they are most able to adjust and get drawn into the social ties of the society.

Earlier, the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation worked out a law draft which provides an opportunity to get a Russian passport to people without citizenship of the Russian Federation.
