Compatriots prepare action plan for development of Russia – US relations

17.07.2018

Russian compatriots living abroad would like to establish cooperation between Russia and the USA in the field of social initiatives.

Social organizations working over development of relations between the countries used people’s diplomacy in order to prepare their own action plan containing numerous cultural – humanitarian campaigns.

Compatriots sent a message to the Russian President Vladimir Putin proposing the head of state to scrutinize this plan, according to the Coordinating Council of Organizations of Russian Compatriots in the US.
In their opinion, it is hard for the Russian and American politicians  to build channels of bilateral interaction as they absolutely have no space to manoeuvre and this is exactly where experience of the civil organizations might be useful.

Authors of the document remind that the Russia’s natives living in the US have repeatedly asked for arranging a personal meeting between the heads of the two countries.
Edward Lozansky, who is heading the Russian House in Washington and who signed this letter, has reminded that when Barack Obama was the President, around 20 joint Russian – American initiatives originated and several target groups were set up. Then, Lozansky recollects, they went to oblivion due to actions of the US party. However, taking into account the summit of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, representatives of the civil societies reckon on revival of cooperation.
