03.07.2018

The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russkiy Mir Foundation signed an agreement on cooperation on July 2.

Vyacheslav Nikonov, the Head of the Committee on Education of the State Duma and Chairman of the Management Board of the Russkiy Mir Foundation and Rossotrudnichestvo Head, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Eleonora Mitrofanova signed the agreement.

Eleonora Mitrofanova expressed special interest in cooperation with the Russkiy Mir Foundation on the territory of the ex-USSR republics where she believes there is need to join efforts in order to reinforce positions of the Russian language beyond Russia.

The signed document is to coordinate efforts of the two organizations effectively in the field of popularization of the Russian language and literature, multinational culture of the peoples of the Russian Federation and support of programs on studying the Russian language abroad.

The plan is to cooperate by way of exchanging information about the activities conducted by the two organizations, long-term and current programs and action plans.

The cooperation of the two organizations on the permanent basis has been going on since the agency’s foundation back in 2008. The signature of a new document is a logical continuation of the mutual work. The agreement considers common goals and tasks of the parties and stipulated by the Charters of the two organizations aiming at reinforcing the positions of the Russian language in the world, advance of the Russian culture and unbiased view on modern Russia abroad.
