The state visit of the South Korean President Moon Jae-in to Russia was opened on June 21 with his speech for the deputies of the lower house of the Russian Parliament, TASS reports.

He congratulated Russia with successful conduction of the FIFA World Cup – 2018 calling this championship a sports holiday for the whole world. Moon Jae-in reminded of the Winter Olympics organized in Pyeongchang, South Korea. In his words, the Russian sportsmen showed brilliant performance there.

President asked the Russians to support the Korean football players who are taking part in the world championships as well.

The visit of Moon Jae-in is to last for 3 days. Talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin are scheduled for tomorrow. Already today he is to meet with the Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev. Moon Jae-in is going to travel to Rostov-on-Don, where he is to watch a game between the South Korean and Mexican teams on June 23.
