Russia goes to play-off for the first time in 32 years

National teams of Russia and Uruguay have equal scores following the results of the 2 matches, which means that they get out of Group A to meet rivals from other countries. The day before there were some doubts if Russia would leave the group stage or not, however after the final score of 1:0 in favor of Uruguay at the meeting in Rostov-on-Don, all the doubts dispelled firmly consolidating Russia on the first place in its group of four teams, TASS reports.

The only goal at the Rostov-on-Don stadium was scored by the best player from Uruguay Luis Suarez, having secured a right for his team to move up the world championship. National teams of Spain and Portugal won with minimum overbalance in their favor in group B matches during the 7th day of the FIFA World Cup.

Director General of the Russia-2018 Organizing Committee Alexey Sorokin has noted that interest to the FIFA World Cup is growing, especially now, when it was found out that the Russia’s national team has successfully completed the first stage of the FIFA World Cup. In his words, now the world championship is followed by many guests from other countries at the stadiums and fan-zones and even by the 80-year old ladies watching our guys unflinchingly. 

Three matches at stadiums of Nizhniy Novgorod, Samara and Yekaterinburg will be held at the 8th day of the FIFA World Cup. The most expected meeting, in opinion of the fans, will be Croatia – Argentina game, to start at 9 p.m. Moscow time.
