UN and OSCE watch FIFA World Cup

Football fan zone was opened in the UN Headquarters in New York. Diplomats, UN employees and mass media representatives gathered to watch the FIFA opening ceremony on a huge screen. Many people were dressed in t-shirts of national teams of their countries, TASS informs. 

Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Ambassador to the UN Abdullah Al-Mouallimi joined the spectators before the beginning of the first match.

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya promised that the UN building would turn into one fan zone during the FIFA World Cup. He has expressed hope that nobody will stop them from enjoying peace and football.

Fan zone was opened in the Palace of Nations in Geneva. According to Russia’s Representative to the UN Gennady Gatilov, Russian diplomats invited everybody to watch the first game of the World Cup and a lot of people came. 

Diplomat believes that sport consolidates the society and it is unacceptable to involve it into political intrigues. He has mentioned that the championship will unite efforts of all the countries to resolve common issues. Fan zone was decorated with flags of all the countries, which will fight for the title of the champions and with different symbols of the tournament.

Fan zone was organized in the hall of the UN Headquarters. Flags of all the countries taking part in the championship were installed next to the screens. Big banners with symbols of the World Cup added up to the solemn atmosphere. 

The presentation of the tournament was held yesterday in Vienna. It was organized by the Russian Embassy in Hofburg Palace where the OSCE headquarters are situated. Guests got acquainted with the photo exhibition dedicated to the cities hosting the championship matches. Russian Permanent Representative Alexander Lukashevich has underlined that the fans who came to our country can feel at ease. He has mentioned that live broadcasts of all the matches are to be organized in OSCE.
